Make ’em Laugh

There’s a show biz song that pleads, “Make ’em laugh!”
That’s what Tim Conway did for us. He died today at the age of 85. Coincidentally, I mentioned him in my sermon last Sunday and described one of his hilarious routines. He had a successful career as an independent actor, but his popularity zoomed when he became a regular on the Carol Burnet show.

He had the uncanny ability to make the partners in his skits lose control and laugh out loud at his antics.
Carol Burnet said, “”I’m heartbroken.” “He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He’ll be in my heart forever.”
Bob Newhart joined the praises: “We lost one of the greatest today – Tim Conway may be the greatest ever!”
His daughter, Kelli Conway, testified, “”The love he gave us, and the laughter he gave the world will never be replaced, but will be remembered forever,” she continued. “He is at peace now but I will miss him every second of every day until we meet again in heaven.”
As far as I know, he was able to bring the house down with laughter without compromising his standards of decency and his personal ethics.
He will be missed by all those who love entertainment that can be watched by the entire family.
