How Do You Walk?

Medieval times were different from ours. One big difference from us was how they walked. These days, most people walk from heel to toe. In the Medieval times, people had to be much more careful about where and how they stepped. As such, they had a completely different gait that was based much more on the balls of the feet. (This was because the shoes back then were hardly more than leather socks). This allows you to feel out potential dangers and obstacles before completely bearing your bodyweight on that foot. In the modern era, people who walk barefoot still walk this way because it’s the “natural way.” People walked on their forefoot up until around AD 1500.
But I want to write today about a different walk. I’m not talking about the motion of your feet. Instead I’m writing about the way you are living your life.

THE SEVEN “WALKS” OF EPHESIANS By D. L. Moody

I. The walk of obedience

“And He has made you alive, who were once dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.” (Ephesians 2:1-2)

II. Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called

“I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the calling with which you are called.” (Ephesians. 4:1)

III. Walk in love

“And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.” (Ephesians 5:2)

IV. Walk circumspectly

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.” (Ephesians 5:15)

V. Walk not as other Gentiles walk

“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should not walk from now on as other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind.” (Ephesians 4:17)

VI. Walk as children of light

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.” (Ephesians 5:8)

VII. Let us walk in good works

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2: 10)

Just a Closer Walk with Thee
Anonymous Author

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Refrain:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
