Does Jesus Care?

Frank E. Graeff (1860-1919) was a minister in the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a prolific writer of hymns, stories, poems and articles. He wrote the words of the hymn for today’s blog, “Does Jesus Care?” in 1901.
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7 KJV).

DOES JESUS CARE
Words, Frank E. Graeff
Music, Joseph L. Hall
1901

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?
Refrain:
Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?
Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?
Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks–
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Today is August 18. I have written a blog for September 6 that contains a couple of pictures I can’t wait to show you. I will add that part of the blog here. Hope you like it. You’ll see it again on September 6.
In our family we are very proud of my granddaughter, Melinda, who is a librarian and in charge of the Public Library in the city of Buda, Texas. Here she is in her new library, in a recent picture with her Aunt Dianna and Uncle Mark.

They were in the area August 10 to attend their daughter, Chloe’s, graduation at Texas State University (where Melinda graduated before getting her Master’s at U.T.). Here’s a picture of Chloe.
