January 17, 2018 (Wednesday)
Today on the calendar is, “Ditch New Years Resolutions Day.” You may not have known it, but it’s celebrated every year on January 17. No one knows who started the special day, but he/she must have reasoned that if there is a day to make resolutions there should be a day to ditch them.
Here’s an idea. If there is something you do that you should not do, stop doing it. If, on the other hand, there is something you should do that you don’t do, start doing it. Forget the resolutions; just do the right thing. Then do it again tomorrow, and the next day, etc.
The best way to change your habits is to do it one day at a time. Forget about the entire year that lies before you, and just think about today. And ask the Lord to help you this day to do the thing you need to do or to refrain from doing a thing. Just for today.
That’s all I’m asking from You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord, help me today, show me the way
One day at a time
