Halloween

I guess I’m not much of a fan of Halloween. Maybe I’m a killjoy, but it’s not fun for me.
Decorations are quite popular and many people have made an entire season of what used to be only one day, with ghosts, goblins, and funny monsters in their yards and on top of their houses sometimes for weeks.
In recent years, however, displays in some instances have become very realistic portrayals of murder by torturous weapons, with lots of blood and mutilation of corpses (dummies of course). Some are so real-looking that neighbors have actually called police, thinking they were reporting murders.
If we are going to participate in the holiday, I think it would be a good idea to concentrate on fun, not death. Here’s my idea of fun (shared by lots of folks, I think):

When it comes to a choice between fun things and scary things, I’ll take fun any old day.
