In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:1-5 NIV).

These five verses tell us about Jesus, who is God–the One who created us and is our Savior.
Jesus is the Eternal Word of God and is our God. God does not hide Himself from us, so that we must seek Him; He seeks us. Jesus Christ lets us know who God is and how He has made contact with us through the Eternal Word, Jesus. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.”
Jesus is the Eternal Word of God and is our Creator. He created the universe for reasons of His own. He created humans for their capability of having fellowship with Him. This means that God loves me and considers me “special.” All people bear His image, no matter how marred. All can be “re-created” in Jesus Christ. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
Jesus is the Eternal Word of God and is our Savior. In Him is life and light. In Him we have hope even if others do not. Is He your Savior? Have you accepted Him into your heart and life? “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
