God on the Mountain

One day Jesus took Peter, James and John up on a mountain and was transformed before them. The veil of his humanity was pushed aside so that they could see Him as He really is: clothed with a glory so great they could not look at Him. The light was blinding. Moses and Elijah appeared with Him and they conversed with each other while the three disciples of Jesus were awe-struck and amazed at the sight. Peter spoke of it many years later in the New Testament letter that bears his name.
As the light faded and Moses and Elijah went their way, the disciples were dumbfounded, and Peter spoke: “Lord, it is good to be here. Let’s build some tents and just stay longer. But Jesus replied (paraphrased) “We can’t stay on the mountain; the folks down there in the valley need us.”
This song is about the mountains and valleys of life. Lynda Randle touches our hearts as she sings about God who is always with us.

GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN
Tracy Dartt
1973

Life is easy, when you’re up on the mountain
And you’ve got peace of mind, like you’ve never known
But things change, when you’re down in the valley
Don’t lose faith, for you’re never alone
For the God on the mountain, is still God in the valley
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day is still God in the night
We talk of faith way up on the mountain
Talk comes so easy when life’s at its best
Now down in the valleys, of trials and temptations
That’s where your faith is really put to the test
For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day, is still God in the night
The God of the day, is still God in the night
