(Note from Charles Fake: Dale and I began writing blogs around the same time. He gave it up for a little while, and in Novermber of 2020, he returned with a blog entitled, “Blog Writing from the Past”).
I do not know how much time has passed since I last sat down and attempted to write a BLOG! Some may wander to this writing and wonder why I am writing. Let me explain.
My name is Dale Pogue. My wife is Ann. Our two adult children are Lee Pogue of Fort Worth and Laura Duprie of Goliad. We live in Rockport and belong to First Baptist Church. Ann is a Retired RN. I am a Retired Minister. My last full time work was with South Texas Childrens’ Home where I was Vice President of Family Ministry. Since then I have been an Interim Pastor for several Churches. Most of my years in Ministry were as a Music/Youth/ Education Minister. We have made our home in Rockport for more than 20 years. We have been blessed with wonderful Pastors during those years. I am now 88yrs. of age and find it not easy to walk about as I did in past years. I am a graduate of Fort Smith High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and of Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. I am a Veteran of the Army with tours of duty in Germany and Ft. Polk, Louisiana. Now fully retired after eight years of Reserve & Active Duty. Now there is little Blog space. Mine is called “The Muse Is Loose.” Muse speaks of Poetry which I sometimes write. I am “loose” with no entanglements to instruct or correct. Charles Fake is my dearest friend and great help with this project. I will close out with a poem, not my own.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost
For want of a horse the rider was lost
For want of a rider the battle was lost
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost
and all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
An ancient nursery rhyme dating back to the 1300s in England.
Have a great day!
