I think it was around 1975 that we took another trip to California for vacation. This time we took a more southerly route and went to San Diego. The two oldest sons were working or in college, so there were only five of us on this trip: Charles, Wanda, Debbie, Dianna and Dwight.
Later, around 2007 I believe, our granddaughter, Jennifer, would live in San Diego where her Navy husband, Stephen Haden, was stationed. They later lived in Jacksonville, Florida and after that, Hawaii. They now live in Deer Park, Texas, and have a daughter, Claire, who will celebrate her third birthday on June 3.
I found San Diego to have the most agreeable climate of any places we’ve ever visited. We saw a lot of elderly people there because it is a great place to retire. There are always many servicemen and servicewomen in San Diego.
Of course, we had heard many wonderful things about the San Diego zoo. So we visited it, and found out that everything good that had been said about it was very true. I am not a great fan of zoos, but the San Diego Zoo is wonderful. It is both entertaining and educational. The picture below was taken there.
