The word, “angel,” appears in the Bible 294 times. Angels are ministering spirits who obey God. They are holy, mighty and wise created beings who carry out God’s orders to them. Paul refers to angels when he writes to Timothy, “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels, to maintain these principles without bias..” (1 Timothy 5:21 NASB).
As we enter the Christmas season, let us think about the angels’ appearances during the life of Jesus.
The appearances at critical times in Jesus’ life emphasize the fact that Jesus is divine. He is the second person of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
Christmas plays, pageants, dramatic music concerts and other projects always have angels as part of the presentations. Angels are part of the Christmas story, and important in the life of Jesus.
Angels at Christmas
Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight through all the earth
Ye who sang creation’s story
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth
