I remember watching television news one evening years ago and hearing the speaker talk about a little town in the Missouri Ozarks called, “Branson.” He was letting the world know that Branson was on the verge of becoming an entertainment center.
Located within a day’s drive of 50% of the USA population, it has only 10,500 residents, but on any given day there are at least 100,000 tourists in the town.
Branson has many museums and restaurants, along with lakes for fishing and sights to see, but its chief attractions are its theaters, which feature live entertainment suitable for patrons of all ages. There are over 50 theaters there, featuring well-known celebrities, with seating for 56,700 people, 11,000 more than Broadway theaters have.
Christmas would be a good time to visit, because they have a huge 230 feet high tower, called “Inspiration Tower,” that becomes a great Christmas tree each year at this time. The tower is the second tallest in the state, the highest being the Gateway Arch (630 ft) in St. Louis.
I’ve never been to Branson, but I’ve thought about going someday. Whether I make it there or not, I am glad it’s there, providing clean and wholesome entertainment and proving to the world that there is a market for it.
