He Leads Us Every Day

Theme for this week: The Living Savior

April 22, 2022 (Friday)

One of our greatest hymns is, “He Leadeth Me.” The words reflect the awesome fact that the risen Christ is alive and here with us, leading us every step of life’s way. Every day.

We may wear a bracelet that asks, “What would Jesus do?” but in our hearts we realize that the real question is “What does Jesus want me to do?” That question, it seems to me, is more to the point and helps us to realize that we are people of action and we want the Lord to lead us in doing the right thing.

The wonderful thing about knowing the Lord is with us every step of the way, every day, is knowing that He will not lead us astray. He always wants us to do the will of God. Let us always follow His leadership, praying earnestly for assurance that we are following the leadership of the Lord.

HE LEADETH ME
J. H. Gilmore
1859

1 He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, he leadeth me;
by his own hand he leadeth me:
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.

2 Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
sometimes where Eden’s flowers bloom,
by waters calm, o’er troubled sea,
still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me. Refrain

3 Lord, I would clasp thy hand in mine,
nor ever murmur nor repine;
content, whatever lot I see,
since ’tis my God that leadeth me. Refrain

4 And when my task on earth is done,
when, by thy grace, the victory’s won,
e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
since God through Jordan leadeth me. Refrain
