What Do You See Now?

In yesterday’s blog we discussed a vantage point in the Congo where one can look to the right at the southern hemisphere and to the left the northern hemisphere. And we talked about The Four Corner monument from which one can view four states. Today, I want us to think about something even greater–the view from space.
You and I are probably not ever going into space, but others have made the trip, and a few people are up there right now in the space station. The earth from space resembles the globes that used to sit on our desks. The difference between the globe and the real earth is the absence of political boundaries on the real thing and the presence of clouds and weather systems as well. And the colors. What a beautiful home we have.

Let’s zoom in, OK? Here is the Gulf of Mexico, with the Texas coast and Rockport at the upper left. What a view! You can even see the highway signs (lol).

Boy, that’s close, right? How about getting even closer? The picture of Rockport below is from Google Earth, but you could probably see the scene from an airplane. Can you find your house?

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
Psalms 19:1-4 NIV
