I Wish You Were A Christian

justlikeme.jpgPaul’s wish for King Agrippa was that he would become a Christian. Why? Why did Andrew bring Simon to Christ? Why did Philip witness to the Eunuch? Why did Paul’s companions risk their lives with Paul? Why do we wish you were a Christian today?
If you were a Christian you would have hope for eternity. During the golden days of oratory, William Jennings Bryan said, “If matter, mute and inanimate, though changed by the forces of nature into a multitude of forms, can never die, will the spirit of man suffer annihilation when it has paid a brief visit, like a royal guest, to this tenement of clay? No, I am as sure that there is another life as I am that I live today.”
If you were a Christian, there would be no Hell in your future
If you were a Christian, there would be Heaven in your future
If you were a Christian you would have hope for today. Christ makes you a new person (2 Corinthians 5:17 says you will be “a new creation.”). Once saved, Christ will keep calling you upward toward abundant living. He promises to supply your needs. Now at the right hand of the Father, he promises constant intercession for His people. He promises to come to you in your daily life in the person of the Holy Spirit. He promises strength for your daily trials. He is ultimately the one great answer to all your questions. He allows you to get to know Him as you study His Word, pray, serve Him, witness to others about Him, and worship Him.
If you were a Christian, you would strengthen others. Any part of mankind, made better, strengthens the whole. Other Christians would be encouraged by your conversion, for you would be another companion along life’s way. You wold be a witness to your friends and family, fulfilling your role in the lives of others. Your acceptance of Christ would be an answer to the prayers of many people.
If you were a Christian, you would become another soldier in God’s great spiritual army, fighting the supernatural forces of evil in the world. The angels of God would rejoice as another sinner heads for home. Yours would be another redeemed life bringing honor to God. You would fulfill God’s love in accepting that love, freely given to you.
I could wish many things for you today: health, A happy home, happiness, wealth, security, healthy children, etc. etc. But most of all, “I wish you were a Christian.”
