Goodbye, June – Hello, July

When we think of July, we usually think, “Fourth of July!” Visions of flags, concerts, fireworks, and such flood our minds. And rightly so. But after the fourth, there is still July. Most of it remains. So I’ve written a little poem about it.

I don’t like to say it, but “Goodbye, June,”
You came and went in a hurry.
July’s here now to sing a new tune
’bout ducks and geese that scurry.
June was about weddings and things,
Promises and vows galore.
Fun, however,is what July brings,
With giggles and laughter, and more.
July brings sunshine, warm breezes and eats,
With hot dogs, ice cream, and candy
Dining ’till full is one of our feats,
And we all think that’s just dandy.
Then we go fish or we dive in a bath,
July’s fun whatever we do,
We bike, walk, or run on a trail or a path,
Singing a ditty, like “Loop de Loo.”
As I said before, it’s “Goodbye June,”
See you next year we know,
But July’s here now and not too soon,
Giving us fun — go, go, go.
