Yesterday’s blog was about “Harmony of the Seas,” the world’s largest cruise ship. Today I write about the world’s largest passenger airliner, the Airbus A380.
This plane has been flying since April, 2005, and entered commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines.
The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by European Union manufacturer Airbus.
This airliner provides seating for 525 people when it accomodates 3 classes of passengers, and 853 people when all the seats are economy class. It can fly non-stop from Dallas to Sydney at 560 mph. A total of 319 have been ordered by airlines and 184 are in service. the biggest customer is Emirates.
So, take your choice: the largest cruise ship ever or the largest passenger plane. They represent two entirely different concepts of travel. The plane emphasizes “getting there” as soon as possible, with as many fellow passengers as possible. The cruise ship is all about the pleasures and enjoyment of the travel time, including a few ports of call.
If you have thousands of dollars just lying around, begging to be spent, you might like to fly to Australia and take a cruise ship back home. “Oh what fun it is to ride” the biggest and best.
