This beloved hymn came from Fanny Crosby after she had received a direct answer to her prayer.
She desperately needed a sum of money, so Fanny prayed about it. A few minutes after her prayer, a man she did not know knocked at her door and gave her the exact amount.
Fanny said that God put it into the heart of this good man to bring the money. She later reported, “My first thought was that it is so wonderful the way the Lord leads me, and I immediately wrote the poem.”
