Theme for this month: Jesus in the Four Gospels
Theme for this week: “Jesus in the Gospel of John”
December 14, 2021 (Tuesday)
As Jesus began His ministry as Messiah, he performed miracles. Here is a list of seven miracles, which are signs that He is The Word, Our Savior, the Messiah.
Changing water into wine at the wedding at Cana (Jn 2:1-11);
Healing the royal official’s son (Jn 4:46-54);
Healing the paralyzed man at the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem (Jn 5:1-15);
Feeding the 5,000 (Jn 6:5-14);
Walking on water (Jn 6:16-21);
Healing the man born blind (Jn 9:1-7);
Raising Lazarus from the dead (Jn 11:1-45).
Most of the signs are miracles of healing and even raising from the dead, but the list includes several signs that seem to have been given to show the power and authority of Jesus as the Messiah.
John writes to people who are already believers, to deepen their faith. As we study these events, we so so with a prayer that our own faith will become even stronger and our walk with Jesus even more satisfying. The miracles became greater with time. Water into wine cannot reasonably be compared in importance to raising Lazarus from the dead, the two miracles separated by years. Both are signs from God that Jesus is the Son of God who is empowered by His Heavenly Father.
John W. Peterson is on target with words of his song telling us of the greatest miracle of all: “It took a miracle to put the stars in place. It took a miracle to hang the world in space. But when He saved my soul, cleansed and made me whole, it took a miracle of love and grace.”
IT TOOK A MIRACLE
John W. Peterson

My Father is omnipotent and that you can’t deny
A God of might and miracles ’tis written in the sky
It took a miracle to put the stars in place
It took a miracle to hang the world in space
But when he saved my soul cleansed and made me whole
It took a miracle of love and grace
The bible tells us of his pow’r and wisdom all way through
And every little bird and flow’r are testimonies too
It took a miracle to put the stars in place
It took a miracle to hang the world in space
But when he saved my soul cleansed and made me whole
It took a miracle of love and grace
Though here His glory can be seen we still can’t fully see
The wonders of His might, His throne, ‘Twill take eternity.
It took a miracle to put the stars in place
It took a miracle to hang the world in space
But when he saved my soul cleansed and made me whole
It took a miracle of love and grace
