Down from the Mountain

healing-possessed-Boy.jpgOn the mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus as He was transfigured by light too bright for his disciples to view. It was truly a “mountaintop” experience, a term we have come to know as a deeply spiritual, joyous and exhilarating experience. Then they came down, and at the foot of the mountain people were waiting for Jesus to help them with their problems.
Easter Sunday might be termed, “a mountaintop experience,” as Christians around the world celebrate His resurrection, which is the key to all we believe as Christians. Easter is the high point of the year for Believers. Now it’s over, and behold, there are many all around us who need our love and compassion. We are blessed; now we must help.
Steve Green’s song says, “Everyday they pass me by. I can see it in their eyes. Empty people filled with care, headed who knows where? On they go through private pain,
living fear to fear. Laughter hides their silent cries. Only Jesus hears. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. When will we realize, people need the Lord?”
The Risen Christ says to all of us who love Him: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses .. to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NIV).
Dottie Rambo wrote:

“When I’m low in spirit I cry Lord lift me up, I want to go higher with Thee
But nothing grows high on a mountain so He picked out a valley for me
And He leads me beside still waters somewhere in the valley below
And He draws me aside to be tested and tried, in the valley He restoreth my soul
It’s dark as a dungeon and the sun seldom shines
And I question Lord why must this be
Then He tells me there’s strength in my sorrow and there’s victory in trials for me
Then He leads me beside still waters somewhere in the valley below
And He draws me aside to be tested and tried, in the valley He restoreth my soul

He helps us. We can help others. Down from the mountain. In the valley.
