Loving God, Loving Each Other

Theme for week: Loving the Lord

November 4, 2021 (Thursday)

A secular song, popular in its day, declared, “Love and Marriage, love and marriage, you can’t have one without the other.” That song must have been inspired by the Scriptures, which clearly teach that we show our love for the Lord by loving each other. Loving the Lord, loving each other — “you can’t have one without the other.”

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen” (1 John 4:20 NIV).

Our theme song as Christians should be, “Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love. The fellowship of kindred minds is like unto that above.” And that love for others extends beyond where we are and includes everyone in this world. Jesus’ great commission for us to be His witnesses includes our being witnesses to everyone. God loves the people of this world, and so should we.

LOVING GOD, LOVING EACH OTHER
Bill & Gloria Gaither

Loving God, loving each other
making music with my friends
Loving God, loving each other
and the story never ends

They pushed back from the table to listen to His words
His secret plans before He had to go
It’s not complicated; don’t need a lot of rules
This is all you need to know

It’s loving God, loving each other
making music with my friends
Loving God, loving each other
and the story never ends

We tend to make it harder build steeples out of stone
fill books with explanations of the way
but if we stop and listen and break a little bread
we would hear the master say

Loving God, loving each other
making music with my friends
Loving God, loving each other
and the story never ends.
