Yesterday and Today

Yesterday we gave thanks to God for His blessings. It was a “first” for our family as the grandchildren pitched in and cooked and then cleaned up afterwards. It worked out wonderfully well, and we all enjoyed it. Each person prepared a dish of his/her choice. Dianna coordinated all the efforts. Fifteen of us enjoyed the food and the family time.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. Today is “the day after.” Is it OK to give thanks today also? You better believe it. Every day is a good day to thank the Lord. For what? For your blessings. As the song says, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
Every day when we first wake up it is appropriate for us to say, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

Perhaps it would be a good idea for us to repeat the words of a song, like “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on..” Or perhaps, “Just a closer walk with thee, grant it Jesus is my plea, daily walking close to thee..” Maybe it would be a great moment to offer a brief prayer of praise, “..you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling..” (Psalm 116:9)
In the words of a famous poem, you can “meet God in the morning, when the day is at its best.”
Yes, it’s perfectly all right for us to give thanks today, tomorrow, and all the days to come. In fact, it’s one of the greatest privileges we have as children of God.
