Never Alone

August 2, 2021 ((Monday)

Yesterday’s blog was based on the gospel of Mark, chapter 4, about the time that Jesus calmed the storm with his words, “Peace, be still.” Today we feature a song that is based upon that incident in the life of Jesus and His disciples. When the storm began, Jeus was asleep in the stern of their boat. They awakened Him by shouting over the sounds of wind and waves, “Don’t you care that we are perishing?” The conclusion of the blog was, “Jesus Cares.” The blog today tells the story again.

This time around, however, the song is, “Never Alone.” Just as yesterday’s blog asked the question, “Does Jesus Care?” this song asks the question, “Does Jesus ever leave us?” and the answer is “No! He never leaves us alone to walk the journey of life by ourselves without His help. He is always with us, and gave us that promise: “I will be with you to the end of the age.”

In our lives, spiritual lightning flashes and spiritual thunder rolls, but we are never left alone. The Lord is always with us. He never forsakes us.

NEVER ALONE
Words, Ludie Day Picket
Arranged by Fred Jackey & B.B. McKinney
1897

I’ve seen the lightning flashing, I’ve heard the thunder roll.
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, which almost conquered my soul.
I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, bidding me still to fight on.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

CHORUS
No, never alone, no never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
He’ll claim me for His own;
No, never alone, no never alone.
He promised never to leave me,
Never to leave me alone.

The world’s fierce winds are blowing, temptation sharp and keen.
I have a peace in knowing my Savior stands between—
He stands to shield me from danger when my friends are all gone.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!
CHORUS

When in affliction’s valley I tread the road of care,
My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear;
Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown;
My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!
CHORUS

He died on Calvary’s mountain, for me they pierced His side.
For me He opened that fountain, the crimson, cleansing tide.
For me He waiteth in glory, seated upon His throne.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!
CHORUS
