Pray

Pray for others and yourself

DECEMBER 6, 2007 (THURSDAY) – My daughter, Dianna Hinze, went to M.D. Anderson this week for her checkup (exam and bloodwork only) and her doctor told her she has a less than 10% chance of recurrence. That’s good news, and one more occasion for me to thank each one of you who has been praying for her. Thank you, thank you so very much.
“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you.” (1 Samuel 12:23 NIV)
We all need to pray. We all need someone to pray for us.
Why do we need to pray for others? Charles G. Finney* answered that question in three points:
1. They need our prayer.
2. We need the exercise of praying for others.
3. God wants it to work in our hearts and bring all his people to care for
each other and to love each other.
Friendship
by Marianne Farningham
I cannot tell why there should come to me
A thought of someone many miles away
In swift insistence on the memory
Unless there be a need that I should pray.
Perhaps just now my friend has fiercer
A more appalling weakness, a decay
Of courage, darkness, a lost sense of
right And so, in case he needs my
prayer, I pray.
Friend – do the same for me! If I
intrude Unasked upon you on some
crowded day, Give me a moment’s
prayer as interlude, Be very sure I need
it, therefore I pray.
