Ralph Waldo Emerson is quoted as saying, “There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit.”
That is a great and powerful statement. I first saw it posted in the Post Office in Kosse, Texas in July, 1959. I have since seen it posted as a quotation from many well-known people, all of whom became well-known after I saw the quotation in 1959.
Clearly, it was originally said by someone, but who said it the first time? Who should get credit for having said it? Considering the humility required in such a person, would he/she care who should get the credit for having said it?
Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, taught us:
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:1-8 NIV).
ALL TO THEE

All the glory,
And all the honor,
And all the praise belongs to only thee.
In the morning,
With brand new mercies
It is your face that I seek.
Oh precious lamb slain at Calvary,
I sing your praise throughout eternity.
And cast my crown at your feet
So that you’ll get all the glory.
Take none for me but all….
All the glory,
And all the honor,
And all the praise belongs to only thee.
In the morning,
With brand new mercies
It is your face that I seek.
Oh precious lamb slain at Calvary
I sing your praise throughout eternity,
And cast my crown at your feet
So that you’ll get all the glory.
Take none for me but all for thee. (repeat)
All to thee,
All to thee.
This is my prayer,
My earnest plea.
Lord, take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee (repeat)
Take none for me, but all for thee (repeat)
