April 10, 2015 (Friday)
If you are interested in such things, then you may be excited to know that today, April 10, 2015 is day number 100 on our calendar. Other than its number on a list of days, the day holds no special meaning, unless of course, it’s your birthday, anniversary or other special day of some kind. But those days bear no relation to “100.”
There ought to be something significant about the 100th day, it seems to me, but as far as I know, it is just another day. But wait a minute, are we ever justified in calling today–or any day–“just another day.”
How would you characterize this day? I’m sure you Bible students are already way ahead of me in quoting “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24 NKJV).
Yes, this is a day. It is also another day. But it can never be just another day, because that word, “just,” means “only” or “simply,” stripping the day of significance. It, however, is a unique day. “In what way?” one may ask. It is unique because it is the one and only April 10, 2015 we will ever have. We knew it was coming, and soon we will look back at it, but it is here only for 24 hours, then it’s gone forever, to exist only in our memories.
What will you do with this day? Will you treasure it and make it count? Or will you miss its significance? When I think of how I have wasted time, I remember a quotation from Horace Mann: “Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever.”
Ah, there it is. This 100th day of 2015 is unique, created by the Lord, handed to me as a gift to be used for God’s glory. This is definitely not “just another day.” No day is. Every day is precious. The hours of this day are available to you only once.
“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon? (Dr. Seuss)
