March 5, 2015 (Thursday)
For many years, my week has been divided into two sections: 1. Three days after Sunday, and 2. Three days before Sunday. Today is the first of the three days before Sunday.
How is your week organized? Many people know only the work-five-days week, with two days off. They look forward to Friday with passion. Every week, many people in our country say, “Thank God It’s Friday.” (TGIF). Those folks have reached the end of the work week, which began on Monday. When Wednesday came, it was “Hump Day” so if you made it past Wednesday you were over the hump. Sunday to many people is just the second day of the weekend, with no particular meaning except it’s the last day of personal freedom before joining the “chain gang” at work on Monday. Trust me, there is a better way.
Today is Thursday. Everything in my life is now is looking toward Sunday. Because I am the preacher, I am giving extra thought to what I’m going to say in my sermon. When I am not the pastor, interim or regular, I still look forward to Sunday at church. After Sunday I bask in the sunshine that Sunday brought to my soul, whether it was I or someone else doing the preaching.
How about you? How is your week organized? Does it include a day of worship? Please believe me, the rest of the days go a lot better when you have spent Sunday with like-minded people worshiping the Lord.
