Roses Will Bloom Again

April 29, 2021 (Thursday)

I was visiting Ann and Dale Pogue in their home when Dale looked out through the sliding glass doors and told us what he was seeing: the palm tree that Wanda had given to Ann many years ago, that had been decimated by the February freeze, had green sprouts at the top. The tree is still alive, although it appeared to be dead.

Marcia Henry picked up on that idea with her song, “Roses Will Bloom Again.” When the rose bush gives way to the winter winds, do not give up. The winter will pass and the “roses will bloom again.”

Do not despair when you stand at the graveside of someone you love. Remember the words of Jesus: ““I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying” (John 11:25 NLT). That is our hope as Christians. We will see each other again in Heaven, where Believers who have died are with Jesus, right now. Our hope is based upon Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. In fact, every optimistic thought we have is based upon the fact that Christ is alive and, through His Spirit, is living within each of us, helping us along life’s way. If we are facing disappointment today, let us keep trusting the Lord, because “roses will bloom again.” “..we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 NIV).

ROSES WILL BLOOM AGAIN
Words and Music, Marcia Henry
Date

I planted a little rose bush
I tended it with care
It’s buds began to blossom
Their sweet fragrance filled the air
But when winter came, it withered
The petals drooped and fell to the ground
My heart sank as it faded
But I’d forgotten who had made it
He said
Roses will bloom again
Just wait and see
Don’t mourn what might have been
Only God knows how and when but
Roses will bloom again

Rose was his only sweetheart
A loving wife for 40 years
Cherished every day they had
And held the memories dear
He never dreamed he’d bury love
And go on to live alone
When he lay his Rose to rest
He looked to Heaven and tried his best
To believe that
Roses will bloom again
Just wait and see
Don’t mourn what might have been
Only God knows how and when but
Roses will bloom again

The precious Rose of Sharon
Broken and bruised in cruel shame
Stained the cross of Calvary
So that men might be saved
Satan cheered as He died
While Mary and the others cried
Then God raised Him up from that sleep
And kept a promise only He could keep
Roses will bloom again
Just wait and see
Don’t mourn what might have been
Only God knows how and when but
Roses will bloom again
Roses will bloom again
