One In the Bond of Love

March 11, 2021 (Thursday)

Back on February 17 (Ash Wednesday) I offered words of encouragement to those who were about to begin the observance of Lent as well as all others who are dedicated to Christ whether or not their churches observe Lent. I expressed appreciation for Christians who realize the value of confessing sins and seeking a closer walk with God. I pray we will all let these days before Holy Week begins on March 28 become days of rededication and reconsecration.

All of us who know Christ as Savior are at a place in our relationship with Him which is either very close to Him or far away from Him..or somewhere in between.

At this season of the year that includes a special emphasis upon the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus, it seems we have a fresh opportunity to renew our promises to Him.

Although there are thousands who observe Lent and thousands who do not, we are one in Christ and we are His family. He said so. He said, “Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!” (Matthew 12:50 NLT). Brothers and sisters, let us all love Him with everything that is within us. He thought of each of us when He was on the Cross; do we always have Him on our mind?

We long for that giant reunion of this wonderful family when Jesus comes to take us home. “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace, when He takes me by the hand and leads me to the Promised Land, what a day, glorious day that will be!” While we await His coming, let us draw ever closer to Him.

WE ARE ONE IN THE BOND OF LOVE

We are one in the bond of love;
We are one in the bond of love.
We have joined our spirits with the Spirit of God;
We are one in the bond of love.

Let us sing now, everyone;
Let us feel His love begun.
Let us join our hands, that the world will know;
We are one in the bond of love.
