Believe and Be Saved

If you have been a church member thus far in your life, you no doubt remember that the Apostle Paul made three journeys to spread the gospel. On the second of these, he had a vision in which a man appeared to him and appealed, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.” Paul and his companions immediately sailed and in a few days found themselves in the Macedonian city of Philippi. Paul and his friends had faced opposition in every city they had visited, and Philippi was no exception. Paul and Silas were arrested and imprisoned. Even though their feet had been placed in stocks, they prayed aloud and sang songs of praise, and were heard by other prisoners and their guards as well.
At midnight an earthquake set them free, opening the gates of the prison. The jailer, a Roman officer, was about to kill himself when he heard Paul: “Don’t harm yourself; we are all here.” The jailer brought them out, and knelt before them, pleading, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” It was a simple question about a profound matter, and Paul’s answer was simple: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.” The jailer believed and was saved. Miraculously. Instantaneously. The preachers then spoke to all the members of the household, and they believed and were saved also.
There is one all-important question that everyone should ask: “What must I do to be saved?” And there is one all-sufficient answer: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Though the answer was given nearly 2,000 years ago, it is still the same today. You are invited to be saved. Please believe in Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Be prepared to follow Him wherever and however He leads you.
