Omnipresent

“Omnipresent” is a word often encountered in theological discussions. It means, “present everywhere.” We know, of course, that it is one of the attributes of God. I am beginning to think that it would be a good word to use in a sentence answering the question, “where can I find a computer?”

All the special features of your cell phone or your landline handset are there because of computers. Your digital alarm clock. The timer on your stove. The controller on your coffee maker. Your T.V. Your DVR. All these and many more devices around your home either include computer chips or are controlled by remote ones.
Omnipresent. That’s where computers are today.
Have you called a number recently which answered your call with the word, “welcome,” but would not pause long enough to let you respond before issuing you a long list of which number to push to reach the information you seek. Computers.
Do you have a computer in your home? Probably the answer is “Yes,” even though we could never have imagined such not very many years ago. Remember the kid’s question from the back seat: “Are we there yet?” The answer is “Yes, indeed!” But I have a feeling that “you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.”
From my computer to yours: “Have a nice day.”
