“Black Friday”

Nathan Bedford Forrest, respected Confederate General, with tongue in cheek, explained his military tactics: “Git thar firstest with the mostest.”
“Firstest with the mostest” is the cry of merchandisers these days when “Black Friday” rolls around. In order to make sure they are first, some stores are cranking up their “Black Friday” sales on Thanksgiving Day afternoon.
To take advantage of “crazy” bargains, some shoppers camp out by the front door of stores which offer low prices one day only. The crowds are big as each customer tries to be first at the door.
Known for many years as the busiest shopping day of the year, the crowds continue to flood the stores on the day after Thanksgiving Day year after year. That means that you need to be extra careful in traffic if you decide to shop today. “Y’all be careful out theah, ya heah?”
Oh, and we need to know that it’s OK to give thanks today, too. The Thanksgiving weekend extends through the weekend, but for many the giving of thanks does not. The good news is that we can give thanks every day of our lives.
