Superman, Spider Man and Me

PBS recently ran three programs about comic book heroes. In the course of the presentations, the writers made this observation: Clark Kent was a disguise; Superman was the real personality. On the other hand, Spider Man was the disguise; a normal teenager was the real guy.
Have you ever had moments wondering which is the real you? If not, congratulations. No doubt you live an uncomplicated life. I hope so.
The twin personalities of Superman and Spider Man reminded me of a poem handed to me by a church member many years ago. It’s entitled, “My Name Is Legion,” written by Edward Sanford Martin. It goes like this:

Within my earthly temple, there’s a crowd;
There’s one of us that’s humble, one that’s proud,
There’s one that’s broken-hearted for his sins,
There’s one that unrepentant sits and grins;
There’s one that loves his neighbor as himself,
And one that cares for naught but fame and pelf.
From much corroding care I should be free
If I could once determine which is me.

How ‘ya doin’?
