A wedding took place at beautiful Lake Lanier in Georgia. All 27 guests and wedding party walked out on a pier for the ceremony. One of the folks told his brother, “Keep filming in case someone falls in.” Well, the pier gave way and all 27 people were dumped into the lake. The video is readily available on the internet if you would like to see it.
CNN’s web site ran several videos, along with the one described above, about weddings when something went differently than expected. Most people just laughed about the mishaps and said they would give them something to remember, laugh about and enjoy in the years to come.
People go to great pains to make sure everything is planned in detail for weddings, but that means involving more people, creating more details, and therefore creating more possibilities for something to go, well, not exactly as planned. Being dumped into a lake is, however, one of the most bizarre “not as planned” events I’ve ever heard of.
Someone has said, “If you want to make God laugh, show Him your plans.” Fact is, the people at that wedding got wet but will always recall that day as one of the most memorable of their lives.
Let’s always remember Romans 8:28 (MSG), “..every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.”
