Abounding Grace

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:2).

Annie Johnson Flint (1866-1932) wrote many beautiful poems and they are very popular to this day. Many of her poems were set to music and became well-known songs. One such song is “He Giveth More Grace.” It is definitely one of my favorites. Here are the words:

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

This song is on You Tube, with all three verses, and you would enjoy hearing it when you have the time.
The grace of God is the theme of our lives as Christians today. We are saved by grace and sustained by grace. Here’s the way Paul put it:

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT).
