“Time waits for no one”

“Time marches on!”
How do we know how much time has passed? Do we just go by the way it feels to us? No, we have instruments that measure it.
A long time ago people used the shadows of things like poles to tell approximate time. That was refined to sun dials.
Some people used waterclocks, which measured time by the flow of water between containers.
Then along came mechanical clocks. We could measure time by hours, minutes and seconds. Tick tock.
Later the quartz crystal provided very accurate time. Chances are you are wearing a wrist watch right now powered by a small battery and regulated by a quartz crystal.
Watches are mainly used as jewelry by a new generation that depends on the cell phone to provide the time of day.
Super sophisticated methods of measuring time, such as the atomic clock, have now been developed. Stay tuned, for even more accurate means are being invented as we speak.
Time is important to us. It should be, because it is running out. Yes, it is. Every day we live results in one less day for our personal future.

Devotional Thought: “There is a time for everything” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV). There is no better time for you to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior than right this very minute. You have no assurance that tomorrow will come. Remember the man God called a “fool” because he overestimated his remaining time before death (Luke 12). Now is the time to come to the Lord. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31 NIV).
