“Oh, how I love Jesus, because he first loved me”–Old Christian Hymn

At this time of year we are anticipating special remembrance of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Our church will see and hear a beautiful and meaningful Easter presentation this coming weekend, one week before Easter. For us believers, it represents another opportunity to confirm our confidence in the true gospel, which becomes more precious to us every day.
From an old hymn:

And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new, new song,
‘Twill be the old, old story
That I have heard so long.

The heart of the gospel message is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
When Jesus died on the cross, in some way known only to God, he died in our place. He took upon himself our sins and with them their full penalty.
Perhaps you have not yet accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord; if so, the words of this old hymn may describe your thoughts:

Years I spent in vanity and pride
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not for me he died
At Calvary.

The word, “gospel,” means “good news.” It is good news for everyone who has discovered their need of the Lord in their lives. If you will believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose again to save you, you can accept him into your heart and be saved today. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
