Touched By Jesus

August 27, 2020 (Thursday)

I intend in this blog to show what happened to people when Jesus touched their lives.

1. Healing the paralytic at Capernaum is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels in Matthew (9:1–8), Mark (2:1–12), and Luke (5:17–26). Jesus was living in Capernaum and teaching the people there, and on one occasion the people gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left inside the house where he was teaching, not even outside the door. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man but could not get inside, so they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and then lowered the man down. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Some of the teachers of the law interpreted this as blasphemy, since God alone can forgive sins. Mark states that Jesus “knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts” (2:8). Jesus said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins …” He says to the man “…get up, take your mat and go home.” (8-11).

2. Jesus healed a mute man (who was also blind). The miracle appears in Matthew 12:22-32, Luke 11:14-23 and Mark 3:20-30. According to the Gospels, Jesus healed a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, so that he could both talk and see. People were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

3. Jesus healed a blind man. The Blind Man of Bethsaida is the subject of one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels. It is found only in Mark 8:22-26. When Jesus came to Bethsaida, a town in Galilee, he was asked to heal a blind man. Jesus took the man by the hand and led him out of the town, put some spittle on his eyes, and laid hands on him. “I see men like trees, walking”, said the man. Jesus repeated the procedure, resulting in clear and perfect eyesight. “Neither go into the town,” commanded Jesus, “nor tell anyone in the town.”

4. Jesus healed a deaf man. Jesus gave special attention to one man who was deaf and had a speech problem. When they were alone, Jesus indicated what he was going to do for him. He put his fingers into the man’s ears and, after spitting, touched the man’s tongue. Then looking toward heaven, Jesus uttered a Semitic expression that means “Be opened.” At that, the man’s hearing was restored, and he was able to speak normally. —Mark 7:32-36.

5. John 21:25 states that many more things were done by Jesus than have been recorded.

The Booth Brothers recorded a song about the people that Jesus healed. It is a “feel good” song that I always enjoy hearing. It describes a make believe incident based on miracles of Jesus.

He Saw It All
Words and Music by Daryl C. Mosley
date?

I was working in town one afternoon
Attending some business affairs
I heard a commotion a couple streets over And wondered. Whats happening there
A young man was running from in that direction
And stopped just to catch his breath
I asked him to please tell me what was the hurry
He smiled up at me and he said

I was trying to catch the crippled man
Did he run past this way?
He was rushing home to tell everyone
What Jesus did today
And the mute man was telling myself and the deaf girl
Hes leaving to answer God’s call
Its hard to believe but if you don’t trust me
Ask the blind man, he saw it all
Go ask the blind man, he saw it all

So my friend if the troubles and burdens you carry
Are heavy and dragging you down
You’ve tried everything you can possibly think of
There’s no relief to be found
That very same Jesus that altered the future
Of a blind man, the deaf, and the lame
Is still reaching out in your hour of trouble
One touch and you’re never the same.

You’ll be trying to catch the crippled man
Did he run past this way?
He was rushing home to tell everyone
What Jesus did today
And the mute man was telling myself and the deaf girl
He’s leaving to answer God’s call
Its hard to believe but if you don’t trust me
Ask the blind man, he saw it all
Go ask the blind man, he saw it all
He saw it all
