Look at me–I’m eighty-three

I’m flying through the air, you see

”picWilliam Jefferson Hague, 41, is British Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State. His father, 83, was in the soft drink business.
The father made news recently by wing-walking, to raise money for a chidren’s charity. Nigel Hague has so far raised more than 100,000 pounds for a children’s charity with his white knuckle activities, such as completing a tandem skydive last year and an arduous climb in 2009.
I am younger than Nigel but don’t look for news of my walking on the wing of an airplane in flight. In fact, I consider myself to have accomplished a lot if I have walked on a paved pathway in the park.
The daredevil accomplishment of the 83-year-old, however, offers encouragement to an 80-year-old kid like me. His stunts proclaim to the world: “Treat old guys with some respect. They may be old, but they are still here, so a little applause, if you please.”
