The Seven Last Words

Spoken by Jesus at the Cross

”picEaster Sunday will fall on April 8 this year and I will preach a series of seven sermons, beginning Sunday, February 19, leading up to that special day. These sermons will be based on “The Seven Last Words from the Cross.” The gospels record seven utterances of Jesus Christ as he was crucified. These sermons will look at each saying in depth. Here is the sermon series:


THE SEVEN LAST WORDS FROM THE CROSS
(Easter Sermon Series)

1. DIVINE FORGIVENESS (February 19, 2012)
    Father forgive them, for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).
2. DIVINE PROMISES (February 26, 2012)
    Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43).
3. DIVINE LOVE (March 4, 2012)
    Woman, behold your son: behold your mother (John 19:26-27).
4. DIVINE SACRIFICE (March 11, 2012)
    My God, My God, why have you forsaken me, (Matt 27:46;Mark 15:34).
5. DIVINE SUFFERING (March 18, 2012)
    I thirst (John 19:28).
6. DIVINE ACCOMPLISHMENT (March 25, 2012)
    It is finished (John 19:30).
7. DIVINE ACCEPTANCE (April 1, 2012 / Palm Sunday)
    Father, into your hands I commit my spirit (Luke 23:46).
