More About the Miracle

July 27, 2020 (Monday)

Yesterday’s blog praised the miracle of life and included a picture of a beautiful baby. Today’s blog offers some details about how a new life enters the world. I may as well bring my thoughts in Saturday’s blog up to date. I’m still excited about God bringing new life into the world.

As I said before, it is a miracle! You may be saying, “Everyone knows all about the process of conception, pregnancy and birth,” but perhaps there’s someone out there like me, who was a college graduate yet ignorant of many details concerning these things. At the last minute before the delivery of our first child, I was invited into the clinic’s delivery room to witness the birth. The experience was brand new, and nothing that went on that day was ever talked about on the school playground, where I had received my sex education. I will not reveal the details of what I saw, but suffice it to say that I did not faint and I never did that again.

At the moment of fertilization, the baby’s genetic make-up is complete, including its sex. But the baby won’t be ready for birth for about 9 months, more or less. During that time, much development will take place. At first, we’re talking about cells, which go by different names as they change. I can’t remember those Greek words, or whatever they are. It is soon called a “fetus,” and by the eighth week is known as an “embryo.” Before it is born, it moves and there’s a very exciting moment for the parents as they share that baby’s kick. Of course, before it’s born, the mother is quite ready for that stage to be over.

As far as people such as you and I are concerned, we’re talking about a baby–a brand new human being. We handle the details with reverence and awe. This is the plan of God being carried out by us.

Fetal Development and Stages of Embryonic Growth are interesting subjects which we will not explore here. But if you click here, you will find an article that tells all”

Just to make sure that everyone gets the message, the rest of this
blog is a repeat of Saturday’s blog:

After telling about the first IVF pregnancy and birth, I wrote:
While that birth was miraculous, is not every birth–any birth also a miracle? I remember having that very thought as I held my firstborn in my arms. “This is a miracle,” was the one thought that kept racing through my mind. Wanda and I had that experience five times. Each time the new life that entered the world became a part of our family. Where did the baby come from? From God, of course. But, beyond that very real answer, we have to say, “It came from us, the parents.” We watched, in awe, the process of growth, as each of our five babies became a child, a teenager, a young adult, an adult, then a parent, and at least one time so far, a grandparent. Is that not a miraculous process?

Life! How very precious!

GOD’S GIFT: A NEW LIFE

A New Born Child

2014

Just as two breaths become one breath
As two whispers become a cry
Miracle before us lies
The glory of a new-born child

These half-closed eyes already see
Looking without looking within
A testament of truth before, before our eyes
The glory of a new-born child

This place, where life’s long path begins
If they be princes, queens, or kings
Laid helpless here at mother’s side
The glory of a new-born child
