Oh, Yes! He Cares!

June 17, 2020 (Wednesday)

In John 10:11-18 Jesus identifies himself as “the good shepherd.” He knows his sheep and they know him. The problem with hiring someone to watch your sheep is that hired hands don’t care about the sheep. Jesus cares about his sheep. He knows the name of each and every one of them. More than that, he knows the heart of each one of his sheep and a person who is intimately involved to that extent with the sheep genuinely loves the sheep. In fact, he cares about the sheep so much that he is willing to die for it. Jesus is speaking figuratively and it should be easy for us to understand that he is talking about his love for us.

He cares. His heart is touched with our grief. He is near to us when we are in such emotional pain that every day is dreary and we grow weary of grief. As he song says, “No one ever cared for you like Jesus. There’s no other friend so kind as he. No one else could take the sin and darkness from you. Oh, how much he cares for you.”

You may call upon him for help any hour of the day or night on any day. He is ready to help. Jesus loves you. This I know because he loves me so much. What is it Jesus told Nicodemus? God loves the people of this world so much that he spared not his own son but delivered him up for us all.

Yes! Jesus cares! He cares about you. Yes, he cares.

DOES JESUS CARE?

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?

Chorus:
Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks—
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
