Exciting
July 19,2011 (Tuesday)
Last evening was the first of the week in Vacation Bible School at our church in Ingleside. There was a good attendance, lots of excitement and, as the news reports of long ago used to say, “a good time was had by all.”
One little preschool girl was separated from her mother for the very first time in her life, and it became too much for her. She could not be consoled and insisted that she be reunited with her mother. She left in tears with her mom when she came for her. Later, at the close of session, her mother returned for the other children in the family with the little girl. What a change. She went from being anxious and upset to being one of the happiest little ladies I’ve ever seen. All her problems had been solved by being with her mother.
When the V.B.S. started, and the children were seated in age groups for the opening worship service, everyone was quiet and subdued. As the evening went on, they loosened up, and by the time the session ended, they were like a different group of children. They were at ease, felt right at home, and were enjoying every minute. A camaraderie had developed within three hours.
How wonderful to see a group of Christian adults and young people willing to work with the children. All of the workers were prepared and very interested in making the evening as informative and enjoyable as possible. Their efforts were rewarded. I think they are looking forward to tonight and a wonderful evening together in Vacation Bible School.
