Jesus Revealed In Me

May 27, 2020 (Wednesday)

Many, many years ago, as a child, I remember hearing the song by B.B. McKinney, “Let Others See Jesus in You.” Today’song, “Jesus Revealed in Me,” echoes the message of that old hymn. This hymn at one time was sung so much one could count on hearing it if he or she planned to attend an evangelistic service. I have not heard it much lately. I wish I could hear it more. It is indeed a great gospel song.

I did a little research when “What Would Jesus Do?” was such a popular motto. I was surprised to find, as I studied the New Testament, that there are not nearly as many references to living for Jesus as there are references to Jesus living in our hearts and working through us. The lesson for me is that I need to understand what Jesus is doing and work with Him in accomplishing His tasks. There is a Bible phrase we all need to know: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Frank Boggs sings the featured song in today’s blog. He was a Baylor student with Howard Butt, Jr. as the two of them with several others led the first great Youth Revival Movement around 1948 or so. He was raised in the First Baptist Church of Dallas, and now, at 93, lives in Georgia, still active in the music world. (You can read more about him in Wikipedia, and he has a facebook page).

Jesus revealed in me
Words: Gipsy Smith (1860-1947)
Music: E. Edwin Young
circa 1900

1 Christ, the Transforming Light,
Touches this heart of mine,
Piercing the darkest night,
Making His glory shine.

Chorus:
Oh, to reflect His grace,(His grace)
Causing the world to see (to see)
Love that will glow,
till others shall know Jesus,
revealed in me.

2 Here, Lord, I bring my heart,
My love, my strength, my will,
Cleanse me in every part,
With all Thy Spirit fill. (Chorus)

3 Life is no longer mine,
I yield it all to Thee;
Fill me, that I may shine,
Until Thy face I see. (Chorus)

4 Triumphant peace is mine,
Now Jesus reigns within;
He giveth joy divine,
And vict’ry over sin. (Chorus)
