Easter Monday

Musings about yesterday

April 25, 2011 (Monday)
”picI received an email that contained a cute story. It goes like this:

When Joseph from Arimathea arrived home one Friday
night many years ago, he told his wife that he gave their
tomb to someone to use.
She got upset and said to him, “How could you do that?
After all the time and money you spent building it. It was
just finished and has never been used. What are we
going to use now for our selves ?”
Joseph just said, “Don’t worry, it’s only for the weekend.”

I never thought of a joke as a means of telling the good news, but this surely seems like one. It should open a conversation with someone about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which gives us the real reason for Easter.
Our church saw its attendance doubled yesterday, and I was so happy to see everyone. Here’s the sermon they heard about Jesus: “1. He’s alive! 2. He’s active! 3. He’s available!” It was based on Mary Magdalene’s words in John 10:18, “I’ve seen the Lord!”
