The hymn, “He Lives!” is a testimony about the difference that our living Lord makes in our lives.
Take a look at the first verse: “I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today. I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, and just the time I need Him, He’s always near.”
Another great song puts it like this: “He walks with me and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.”
These songs emphasize the fact that Jesus is a person with whom we can have a relationship. As we walk with Him day after day, we learn to love Him. A wonderful old hymn speaks aloud what we feel in our hearts: “My Jesus, I love thee. I know thou art mine. For thee all the follies of sin I resign. My gracious redeemer, my savior art thou. If ever I love thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.”
Yesterday he rose from the dead. Today He is right here with us and has promised never to leave nor forsake us.
One of the songs we love very much expresses our love for Jesus: “I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you. Oh, my soul, rejoice. Take joy, my King, in what you hear. May it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear.”
We long to know the Lord better every day. We pray, in the words of a great song, “Draw me close to you. Never let me go. I lay it all down again to hear you say that I’m your friend. You are my desire. No one else will do, ’cause nothing else could take your place. To feel the warmth of your embrace, help me find the way. Lord, bring me back to you.”
