Today’s Blog

Trying something new

October 27, 2010 (Wednesday)
”picDwight told me that the other blogs he reads are all readable as soon as he goes to the sites. He suggested I do mine that way, too. Dale Pogue has been doing his like that from the beginning. So, here it is. The previous blogs are still indexed as links. Only today’s blog is available without clicking a link. (After today, however, it will appear as a link like all previous blogs).
Actually neither Dale nor I understand this blog business completely. The mastermind of the blogs is Patty Albin at First Baptist Church, Rockport, Texas. She is the administrator of this site and the only one of us who really knows what this is all about. She has a lot of patience with us old guys. Whenever there is a problem connected with the blogs, we rely on her to get it straightened out, and she always comes through. Without her, there would be no blogs from us.
Every once in a while, someone asks where the word, “blog,” originated. It is a contraction of some of the letters in the phrase, “web log.” “Web” is another name for what we commonly call “the Internet,” I guess we can say, although the two words don’t mean exactly the same thing. When I was pastor, I referred to the paragraphs I wrote for newsletters as “articles.” Every so often we hear these blogs called, “essays,” but not often because that word conjures up memories of hard work as students long ago.
So, here’s today’s blog. Right up front without clicking to see it. (Oct 27 only).
