Peace

In your heart

September 29, 2010 (Wednesday)
”picShoichi Yokoi, a Japanese soldier, was found hiding in a Guam jungle in 1972 — 27 yrs after World War 2 had ended. He did not know that the war was over. Paul tells us that Jesus came to make peace between God and man, but many don’t know it yet.
“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two (Jew and Gentile) one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit” (Ephesians 2:14-17 NIV).
God’s will for all of us is that we live in peace with God and with each other, that we get along and love each other.
That peace begins in our own hearts. Christ wants us to be at peace within ourselves. “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way” (2 Thessalonians 3:16). Jesus gives peace within. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27 KJV).
As the song urges us, “Try the Man of Galilee. Try Him. Try Jesus. Love that’s like pure gold, a love that ne’er grows old. Try Jesus, Man of Galilee.” Another grand old hymn makes this suggestion: “Let Him have His way with thee.” Isn’t it time for you to have some peace? Ask Jesus into your heart today.
