Our Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament covenant was sealed with blood of animals sacrificed to bring forgiveness. Likewise the New Testament was sealed with blood, but it is the blood of the eternal Son of the Living God that brings forgiveness, for, as the Bible says, it was impossible for the blood of animals to provide forgiveness (Hebrews 9:22). When Jesus shed His own blood on the Cross of Calvary long ago, he was providing forgiveness of all our sins if we will receive it. As Paul put it in 2 Corinthians 7, “He who was without sin was made sin for us that we might be made the Righteousness of God in Him.” The shedding of His blood was the giving of His life. He gave Himself as the only sacrifice powerful enough to save us. We are not saved by works of our own, but by His death, burial and resurrection. We accept His gift of salvation by faith. We are saved by His grace. There is power in the blood of God’s Lamb, slain for sinners.
There Is Power in the Blood

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.
Refrain:
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood. Refrain.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood. Refrain.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood. Refrain.
