Once for All

February 9, 2020 (Sunday)

The Apostle, Paul, wrote 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament. Within those books, he repeated the phrase, “In Christ,” 118 times. It must be a very important phrase to have been repeated so many times.

When you received Christ as your Savior, you were placed “in Christ.”

As a Believer, you are in Christ.

You may therefore say with Paul, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NIV)”

He was crucified once for all (Hebrews 10:10).

“Jesus Christ died for you so you never need to die again. Because we have our identification with Him, we have all the power needed to live the rest of our lives above the drag and dregs of slavery.

“Death to sin is an accomplished act, a finished fact. It has all been taken care of. A victorious walk begins with our knowing this fact. Christ’s ‘Emancipation Proclamation’ has put to death the whole idea of slavery to sin. Having died to sin’s power, we are now free to serve our new Master” (quoted from Chuck Swindoll).

He is indeed our Almighty King, as presented in yesterday’s blog.

The hymn, “Once for All,” is based upon Hebrews 10:10 and focuses on the teachings I have shared with you in the paragraphs above.

ONCE FOR ALL
Author: P. P. Bliss (1838-1876)
Tune: [Free from the law, O happy condition]

Free from the law, O happy condition,
Jesus hath bled, and there is remission;
Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall,
Grace hath redeemed us once for all.

Chorus:
Once for all, O sinner, receive it,
Once for all, O friend, now believe it;
Cling to the cross, the burden will fall,
Christ hath redeemed us once for all.

Now we are free, there’s no condemnation,
Jesus provides a perfect salvation;
“Come unto Me,” O hear His sweet call,
Come, and He saves us once for all. [Chorus]

“Children of God,” O glorious calling,
Surely His grace will keep us from falling;
Passing from death to life at His call,
Blessed salvation once for all. [Chorus]
