A little preview of today’s messages.

July 22, 2007 (Sunday) – O.K., since it’s Sunday I’m going to try giving a little preview of today’s sermons at the First Baptist Church of Rockport, Texas.
This morning, at the 8:30 a.m. service and the 11:00 a.m. service, the sermon is from Mark 8:36 and is entitled, “Contrasting Values.” Mark 8:36 reads, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” (NIV). These are the words of Jesus. Here’s the sermon outline:
Introduction: Bargain hunters are sometimes cheated.
1. The World is Valuable
2. The Soul is More Valuable than the World
3. You Must Decide for Yourself Which Is the More Valuable
Conclusion: Which is more valuable to you, the world or your soul?
This evening at the 6:00 p.m. service, the message will be from Mark 11:25-26 and/or Matthew 6:12. The Scripture Texts are about the effects of unforgiveness in our hearts. The published sermon topic is, “Hindered Prayer,” but it should be, “Unforgiveness.” Here’s the outline:
Introduction: An example of Forgiveness and Its Blessings
1, Unforgiveness Hinders Worship
2. Unforgiveness Hinders Prayer
3. Unforgiveness Hinders Our Love for God
4. Unforgiveness Hinders Our Spiritual Growth
Conclusion: Unforgiveness Must Go — Forgiveness Must Take Its Place
